ABOUT LILY

Lily Gabriella Elia is at the forefront of a new wave in contemporary jewellery thinking. With a bold, graphic style that nods to the great eras of the past, her highly considered jewellery design is resolutely rooted in a futuristic oeuvre.

Born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Monaco by a Lebanese father and Uruguayan mother, her aesthetic is testament to an extraordinary upbringing. Daughter and granddaughter to prolific art and jewellery collectors, growing up, Lily was surrounded by her parents’ and grandparents’ friends and collaborators, including architects, artists, jewellers and fashion designers.

But her greatest influence was, and still is, her grandmother, whose important jewellery collection was freely offered to Lily to play with as a child. In a home that was alive with creatives, works of art and jewels, the effect shaped Lily’s emerging style.

In 2011, having graduated with a Fine Arts degree at Boston’s Brandeis University, Lily completed the GIA Gemologist diploma in New York. She then worked at Christie’s Geneva jewellery department before finally launching her own brand in 2015.

Her first design, the Spira ring, a sculptural coil of gold, has become her signature, while her one-off pieces are defined by chromatic combinations of gemstones and the use of unusual materials.

In 2019 Sotheby’s Diamonds invited Lily to collaborate on a collection of high jewellery that saw important diamonds interpreted in her typical playful style.

Today, to own a Lily Gabriella jewel is to step into a world where myriad influences, from Art Deco to contemporary architecture, converge in a fresh, modernist style.
